On the structure of the spectral solutions of the Yang–Baxter matrix equation

Let A be a square matrix. We investigate the structure of the spectral solutions of the nonlinear matrix equation A X A = X A X by showing that any semisimple eigenvalue of A with multiplicity at least 2 gives rise to infinitely many solutions. Such solutions can be obtained by means of the projections onto subspaces of the corresponding eigenspace.
