Abstract
A new type of 2-D cascade-parallel adaptive infinite impulse response (IIR) filters with adaptive algorithm based on the concept of back propagation method is developed. This class of filter consists of parallel blocks each of which includes all-zero (transversal) and all-pole sections in cascade form realizations. At first a 2-D cascade-parallel filter structure is introduced, then an efficient adaptive algorithm is proposed using the concept of backpropagating the desired signal. Finally, the applications of this type of 2-D adaptive IIR filters in 2-D system identification and noise reduction in an image are illustrated with numerical examples.
