On the optimal control of linear discrete-time systems via discrete orthogonal functions

Based on a comparative study carried out on the discrete orthogonal functions (DOFs) approach and the well-known recursive method of solving the Riccati equation, it is shown in this paper that the DOF approach is not computationally advantageous as far as the optimal control problem of linear discrete-time systems is concerned.
