Abstract
Pars argued that for particle mechanics, the idea of allowing forces to be functions of accelerations is foreign to Newtonian mechanics. It is inconsistent with one of the fundamental postulates of Newtonian mechanics. This was attested by a set of (thought) experiments. We show that Parsʹs argument was in fact based on a major assumption which is unnecessary. As this assumption is removed, acceleration dependent forces do not appear to violate the fundamental postulate.
