Reliability methods as management tools: dependence modelling and partial mission success

A new reliability model has been developed for the CLUSTER satellite system of the European Space Agency. This model incorporates event dependent (non-constant) failure rates and dependencies together with a utility function measuring the achievements of the mission up to a given point in time. This model, unlike the standard reliability models, can be used as a management support tool.
