Abstract
This article discusses some of the advantages and drawbacks of GP fundholding from both the patientʹs and a population point of view. An equitable division of resources should be a major priority of the health service. Evidence to date suggests that there are problems with fundholding. These require evaluation in order to build on the successes and improve in areas of controversy.
