TRENDS OF LANGUAGE METHODS IN SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

The role of language methods in second language acquisition has always led to an increased interest in understanding the process of second or foreign language learners among language learners over the world. Language methods have had a long history in language teaching and learning, thus; they have been changed throughout the recent history of language teaching. In this paper, the trends of language methods in second language acquisition will be indicated. Thus, the earliest language teaching methods such as the Grammar Translation Method and the most important methods such as Audio-lingual Method, the Silent Way, Community Language Learning (CLL) Total Physical Response Method, Suggestopaedia Method, and Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) will be discussed. Method can be used as classroom activities between teachers and their pupils in classroom settings. Teachers can use of the methods in teaching language in classroom.
