Abstract
Numerical solutions of the model differential equation system governing the internal expansion of a sheet of paper during impulse drying are presented. Among the quantities studied in this numerical implementation are variations in sheet thickness, the rate of sheet expansion, pressure profiles internal to the pores of the sheet, water content in the pores, and percent solids with several critical physical and geometrical parameters. The results obtained are presented in graphical form and are used to draw certain preliminary inferences concerning sheet expansion.
