Abstract
A concise synthesis of the β-1,4-linked monocarba-disaccharide, 4-O-(2,3,4,6-tetra-O-acetyl-β-d-glucopyranosyl)-1,2,3,6-tetra-O-acetyl-5a-carba-α-l-idopyranose 10, using an asymmetric Diels–Alder reaction of maleic anhydride and the glucosylated diene 1 to construct the carbocyclic ring is described.
