Absorption of hydrogen by Nb1−x Crx solid solution alloy

The pressure-composition isotherms for Nb1−x Crx–H systems (where x=0.03, 0.05 and 0.1) were determined at three different temperatures, 320, 350 and 375 K, using standard Sievert’s technique. A large hysteresis was observed for x=0.1 as the value of x decreases this hysteresis becomes smaller. The hysteresis effect is explained in terms of an elastic strain energy effect.
