Abstract
α-Benzotriazolylamides 6a–d afforded N-(benzotriazol-1-ylmethyl)arylimidoyl chlorides (4a–d), which reacted in situ with potassium tert-butoxide to form 3-aryl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,2-a]benzotriazoles (7a–d) (44–68%), representatives of a novel heterocyclic system. The structure of 7a was confirmed by single crystal X-ray analysis.
