Abstract
An electrochemical sensor was fabricated based on a modified glassy carbon (GC) electrode with layered Au/TiO2 nanofilms for sensing of hydrogen peroxide. Both nanofilms of Au and TiO2 nanoparticles were obtained by self-assembly at air/water interface and were successively transferred onto the GC surface layer by layer. The mesoporous structure of the layered films and the synergistic effect between Au and TiO2 nanoparticles enhanced the electrocatalytic activity towards oxidation of H2O2. Under optimized conditions, the modified electrode demonstrated good performances in detection of H2O2. The linear range, detection limit and sensitivity for H2O2 sensing were 1 μM–7 mM, 0.1 μM (S/N = 3) and 664.3 μA mM−1 cm−2, respectively.
