Diagnostics of Austenitic-Steel Tubes in the Superheaters of Steam Boilers Using Scattered Magnetic Fields

A method is considered for early diagnostics of sections of austenitic-steel tubes in superheaters that are vulnerable to damage. The source of the abnormal scattered magnetic fields, which are the main parameter of diagnostics, is shown to be the local strain in tube sections working under conditions of poor temperature compensation. The results of an inspection of the austenitic-Steel tubes were confirmed by a metallographic investigation.
