Abstract
High carbon lvrro-dirome slag in the range of 10-40 wt% has been incorporated in conventional ceramic tile composition to study its suifahility as one of the body raw materials. The tiles were subjected to heat treatment at 950°-1100°C and the properties were evaluated in relation to slag content at different heating temperatures. It was found that addition of 10% slag improved the bending strength, % water absorption and hulk density of 950° C fired tiles. The scientific aspect behind improvement in properties is discussed in the paper.
