Abstract
A magnesium oxide obtained by calcination of magnesium hydroxide at 600°C, followed by rehydration and new calcination at 600°C, was used as support in the preparation of supported Pt catalysts. Various Pt precursors in two different solvents were tested for this purpose. Both the support and the catalysts obtained from it were characterized by XRD, 1H MAS NMR and CO2 chemisorption measurements. The catalyst obtained by impregnation in aqueous Pt(NH3)(NO3)2 was found to exhibit the best chemical textural properties.
