Abstract
The product state-resolved dynamics of the photon-initiated title reaction, leading to the production of OH(X2Π3/2;v′=0,N′=5), has been studied using Doppler-resolved laser-induced fluorescence at a collision energy of 143 kJ mol−1 (=1.48 eV). The angular distribution of OH(v′=0,N′=5) is found to possess both forward and backward peaks, with a slight bias towards the backward hemisphere. The experiments allow precise determination of the distribution of energy released into translation and hence into the internal modes of the N2 co-product. The OH state specific kinetic energy disposal is found to be sharply distributed about a mean fractional translational energy release ft∼0.4. The results are discussed in the light of previous experimental and theoretical work.
