Abstract
The reaction of O3 with C2H4 was studied in a 570 l spherical glass reactor at 295±1 K and 720±3 Torr (1 Torr=133.322 Pa) total pressure of either He/O2 (80/20) mixture or synthetic air, in the absence and presence of CO. In the presence of CO, the O3 conversion relative to the C2H4 conversion increased ∼20–50% from a value of ∼1.0, with the concomitant increase in the CO2 yield. Simulation of the results based on an assumed model indicated that these data can be explained without including the OH formation from CH2OO* intermediate.
