Abstract
The kinetics of the reaction of CF3CFHO2 radicals with NO was studied by flash photolysis—time-resolved mass spectrometry. From the kinetic growth rate of NO+2 molecular ions the rate coefficient of the reaction CF3CFHO2 + NO → CF3CFHO + NO2 was determined to be k = (1.31 ± 0.30) × 10−11 cm3 molecule−1 s−1 in the pressure range 12–25 Torr at 324 ± 1 K. Measurements of the total NO2 yield indicated that the CF3CFHO radicals were completely dissociated by CC bond scission on the 50 ms time scale of the experiments. The results are discussed in the context of atmospheric chemistry of HFC-134a.
