Abstract
The interaction of CO2 with an industrially manufactured Pd/LaAlO3 catalyst and three supports, Al2O3, LaAlO3 and La2O3Al2O3, was studied by using the temperature-programmed desorption (TPD), transient reaction and temperature-programmed reaction methods. The TPD experiments reveal that molecular CO2 strongly adsorbs on Pd/LaAlO3 at 300 K. Therefore, the kinetics of the COO2 reaction must account for the adsorption/desorption of CO2 on Pd/LaAlO3. The LaAlO3 support of this catalyst offers the adsorption sites for CO2. The interaction of CO2 with pure Al2O3, LaAlO3 and La2O3Al2O3 supports is also strong.
