Abstract
We report a study of the ion-atom reaction H3++N using a selected ion flow tube (SIFT) operating at room temperature. The product channel is NH2++H and the rate coefficient is k=(4.5±1.8) × 10−10 cm3 s[su−1]. This reaction is relevant to the synthesis of ammonia in interstellar clouds.
