Abstract
X-ray diffraction patterns of Pb(Zr1−xTix)O3 (x = 0.1–0.8) have been measured at pressures up to ∼35 GPa at room temperature using synchrotron radiation. In order to refine the crystal structure, Rietveld analysis has been performed. The structure of Pb(Zr1−xTix)O3 (x = 0.5–0.8) is tetragonal in space group P4mm at ambient pressure and is transformed into a cubic phase in space group Pm 3 ¯ m at ∼7.5 GPa (x = 0.8), ∼7.9 GPa (x = 0.6), and ∼4.1 GPa (x = 0.5) respectively. The structure of Pb(Zr1−xTix)O3 (x = 0.1–0.4) is rhombohedral in space group R3c at ambient pressure. No pressure-induced phase transition for Pb(Zr1−xTix)O3 (x = 0.1–0.4) was observed over the pressure range of this study. The Birch–Murnaghan equation of state fit to the experimental data has been not only measured for Pb(Zr1−xTix)O3 (x = 0.1–0.8) but also the pressure phase diagram of PbTiO3–PbZrO3 system at 300 K is suggested.
