Abstract
In this paper, carbohydrate-modified polydiacetylene (PDA) films prepared by Langmuir–Schaefer (LS) technique were used as biosensors for studying the interaction of wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) with the carbohydrate. Studies showed that the addition of WGA, specific to N-acetylglucosamine, induced the films to change their color from blue to red. UV–vis and Resonance Raman (RR) spectra confirmed the occurrence of molecular recognition. Surface pressure–area isotherms showed that glycolipid and polydiacetylene molecules had good miscibility on pure water subphase, which was significant for further applications as biosensor.
