Abstract
Conditions of soil pH regulation were analyzed and theoretically substantiated allowing us to increase the rate and degree of soil decontamination from heavy metals and radionuclides. Experimental testing of a theoretical model developed was conducted in the process of decontamination of kaolinite and a mixture of montmorillonite and sand. The obtained results confirmed the relevancy of theoretical assumptions.
distribution of the electric field strength and electromigration ion flows caused by soil pH regulation yielded a several-fold increase in the rate and degree of soil decontamination. The method developed allowed almost total removal of cobalt and uranium admixtures to be achieved within 24 h that was practically impossible without pH regulation even after the soil treatment for many days.
