  • Abstract
    Allylic sulfones undergo the conjugate addition to diethyl chloroisopropylidenemalonate, followed by intramolecular cyclopropanation. DBU-promoted ring opening and subsequent desulfonation reactions of the resulting adduct produce the conjugated polyene chains with the 1,4-dimethyl substitution.
