Abstract
In conclusion, this study suggests that a chronic irregular heart rate alone could produce an overall reduction in cardiac function that can be reversed by AV node ablation and pacemaker implant. Therefore, ablation of the AV junction and permanent pacing could represent a more appropriate therapeutic modality over procedures or treatments targeting rate control, particularly in patients with left ventricular dysfunction.
