Abstract
A general and efficient method for the preparation of β,γ,γ-trisubstituted-α-phosphono-γ-lactams is presented for the first time. This approach is based on the Michael addition of diethyl acetamidomalonate to methyl (E)-3-aryl-2-(diethoxyphosphoryl)acrylates. Application of the phosphono-lactams obtained for the preparation of α-methylene-γ-lactams is also reported.
