Abstract
The [Cd(SO4)(C7H7NO2)2(H2O)2]n complex has been synthesized and characterized by spectroscopic IR, EPR and X-ray diffraction technique. The compound crystallizes in space group P21/c. The Cd(II) ion is octahedrally coordinated by two aqua, two methylisonicotinate and two sulfate ligands. The methylisonicotinate ligands are N-coordinated, while the sulfate ligands bridge the metal centers, forming the one-dimensional chain structure along the crystallographic [1 0 0] direction. The invidual chains are linked by O–H···O hydrogen bonds. The magnetic environments of Cu2+ doped [Cd(SO4)(C7H7NO2)2(H2O)2]n complex have been identified by EPR technique. The vibrational spectra of this compound was discussed.
