Abstract
The composition path during calculated evaporation under equilibrium and distillation under reduced pressure was compared in an emulsion of water, linalool, and Laureth-4 (a commercial surfactant of approximate composition, C12 (EG)4). The results showed the difference to be surprisingly small and they demonstrated the potential to use a combination of distillation under reduced pressure and ab initio calculations of the effect of relative humidity (RH) as an accelerated test to attain information about the behavior of emulsions during evaporation under various RH conditions.
