Abstract
A kinetic approach was proposed recently for simplification of the classic Langmuir kinetics to first- and second-order rate equations for adsorption [1]. In this study, a simple geometric approach was developed further for simplification of the Langmuir kinetics, and a general simplification principle was put forward and verified by a large number of literature data obtained from adsorption experiments with various adsorbates and adsorbents, which clearly elaborates under what circumstances the Langmuir kinetics would be reduced to the first-order or second-order rate equation for adsorption.
