A new nano-particles LaIII compound as a precursor for preparation of La2O2(SO4) nano-particles

A new nano-sized La(III) compound [La(NO3)4(NCS)(H2O)]2·(H2bpmp)·(H2O) (1) (4-bpmp = N,N′-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)piperazine), was synthesized by a sonochemical method. The nano-sized compound 1 was investigated using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), IR spectroscopy and elemental analyses. The crystal structure of compound 1 was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Thermal stability of bulk and nano-sized particles of compound 1 was studied and compared with each other. La2O2(SO4) nano-particles were obtained by calcinations of nano-sized compound 1 at 700 °C under air atmosphere.
