Evaluating Employee Welfare through Provision and Utilization of Employee Benefit Scheme

The construction industry is amongst the fastest growing in India. The boom in this industry has had an outcome in labor requirements on an unprecedented scale. The major organized players in this industry have used both regular and contract labor to meet their operational needs. Labor sourcing has also seen migration of both skilled and unskilled workers to places where heres high demand for housing. This paper evaluates the concern exhibited in the construction industry towards the welfare of labor being utilized. The study evaluates welfare by assessing both the provision of a government mandated scheme (employee provident fund), and its utilization in terms of benefits being provided to workers.
