Abstract
The fractionation of monoterpene hydrocarbons and oxygenated aroma components from citrus oil was studied for CO2+orange peel oil mixtures. Phase equilibrium and density measurements as well as countercurrent column experiments were carried out at 323, 333, and 343 K in a pressure range from 7 to 13 MPa. Mutual solubilities of CO2 and orange peel oil are in good agreement with literature data for the binary mixture CO2+limonene. Maximum cross-flow capacities were determined by means of flooding point measurements to enable a preliminary design study with respect to minimum inner diameter of a countercurrent column.
