Abstract
The solubility of 1-dodecyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride [C12mim][Cl] in hydrocarbons (benzene, n-octane, n-decane, n-dodecane), ethers {dipropyl ether, methyl 1,1-dimethylethyl ether (MTBE), methyl 1,1-dimethylpropyl ether (MTAE), tetrahydrofuran (THF)} has been measured by a dynamic method from 270 K to the melting point of the ionic liquid or to the boiling point of the solvent. The influence of the anion on the solubility of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium salts in dipropyl ether was tested. The solubility data were correlated by means of the Wilson, UNIQUAC and NRTL equations utilizing parameters derived from the solid–liquid equilibrium (SLE) data. The root-mean-square deviations of the solubility temperatures for all calculated data were higher than 1.5 K and depended on the particular equation used.
