The Truncation and Renormalizability of the Superstring and Heterotic String Effective Actions

The superstring and heterotic string effective actions are studied to determine the feasibility of truncating the expansion in powers of α′. The renormalizability properties of the dimensionally reduced actions are then examined. The solutions to the corrected field equations are then shown to satisfy physical conditions on the internal symmetry spaces.
