Abstract
A new laser cooling scheme for electron beams that utilizes relativistic cyclotron resonance is proposed. Since resonant electrons increase their transverse momentum, while non-resonant electrons remain unchanged, a specific region of phase volume can be reduced through radiative damping. We perform numerical studies about resonant width of the cyclotron resonance in relativistic region, and discuss the cooling scheme.
