Abstract
Recent experimental results on electroconvection in homeotropic nematic liquid crystals are summarized. Static and dynamic properties of the patterns at and above threshold are discussed. The azimuthal angle of the director is determined for various pattern morphologies (normal, abnormal and CRAZY rolls). Preliminary results on controlled defect motion are presented.
