Abstract
The Micro Gap Wire Chamber (MGWC) proposed in the beginning of 1997 is a new gaseous detector configuration combining the stability and the gain of the MWPC and the resolution of the Micro-Strip Gas Chamber. These new chambers consist of cathode strips and anode wires separated by thin dielectric strips. Here we report the first results obtained using a MGWC with a 2D readout.
