Abstract
A detector system for fast in vivo proton radiography on the proton gantry of the Paul Scherrer Institute was developed. The system, consisting of two scintillating fiber hodoscopes and a range telescope made of plastic scintillator tiles, is capable of detecting position and range of 106 protons/s as single coincidence events. The spatial resolution achieved for the residual-range images is ≈1 mm and the density resolution is 0.3% for 200 protons/mm2.
