Abstract
Poly(p-phenylene-),3,4-oxadizole) (POD) shows two solid state modifications which can be distinguished by X-ray diffraction and IR-spectroscopy. Molecular modelling reveals that the chain conformations of both forms are different. Aromatic poly(1,3,4-oxadiazole)s can be electrochemically doped by reduction reaction whereby radical anions are formed. The influence of the molecular aromatic structure on the reduction potential is discussed in detail.
