Abstract
The structure parameters of La1.93Bi0.07CuO4+δ (δ = 0.044, Tc = 22 K), which was made superconducting by treatment with O2 at 50 MPa and 600°C, were refined by time-of-flight neutron powder diffraction. It remained a single phase both at room temperature and at 11 K. Excess oxygen atoms are located at interstitial positions between a couple of (La,Bi)O sheets. Localization of the interstitial oxygen defects by Bi3+ ions suppresses phase separation in this solid solution.
