Abstract
Experimental transmittance versus potential (T-E) curves were obtained for poly(o-methoxyaniline) electrochromic films in aqueous acidic medium. T-E curves assumed different forms such as oval and figure-eight shapes, depending on the scan rate and the wavelength used during spectroelectrochemical experiments. A theoretical model was proposed to explain experimental results and to construct T-E curves by computer simulation. The model assumes current transients to be an exponential process with a single relaxation time that explains the curve shapes. An alternative model using more than one relaxation time is commented on to describe more than one species of migrating ions and to produce a closer fit.
