A polyaniline/sllicon hybrid field effect transistor humidity sensor

We report on the fabrication of a gas sensing device based on a polyaniline/silicon hybrid field efFect transistor. The organic layer is incorporated in a hole in the gate metallisation. On application of a gate voltage, a delay is observed in the response of the drain current, characteristic on the gas ambient. Results are presented showing how this turn-on delay depends on the relative humidity.
