Abstract
Recognition properties of nano-ordered structures, i.e. two-dimensional honeycombs and one-dimensional molecular rows consisting of 5,5″-bis(mercaptomethyl)-2,2′:5′,2″-terthiophene, on gold single crystal surfaces were investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy at room temperature. It was found that nano-ordered structures, in particular two-dimensional honeycombs, can discriminate between n-hexanethiol and triphenylmethanethiol.
