Abstract
The title compound is a highly-conductive mixed-valence MMX chain. It exhibits a metal-semiconductor transition at 300 K, which is associated with a valence transition of Pt from an averaged-valence state of +2.5 to a trapped-valence state of +2 and +3, from the infra-red study of v(C=S) of the dta ligands and the Raman study of v(Pt-Pt) and v(Pt-I) in Pt2(dta)4I.
