Abstract
Nanocrystals of bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene (ET) polyiodides in polymer matrices were obtained using different methods of crystallisation under limited diffusion conditions. Broadening X-ray diffraction (XRD) lines and atomic force microscopy (AFM) confirm the decreasing size of the crystals. The positions of the UV–Vis absorption maxima are practically the same; IR peaks show a small shift of the CT band as compared with microcrystalline layers. Raman spectra and XRD show that, even above 390 K, α-ET2I3 is formed in contrast to βco-ET2I3 phase microcrystals formed above 370 K in solution.
