Freeforming of polymers

Rapid prototyping and freeform fabrication methods are being increasingly used as a stage in the design cycle of polymers. They also represent new ways of processing materials and particularly provide much closer coupling between materials synthesis and materials processing. Freeforming techniques also allow new combinations of materials to be formed, such as functional gradients, oriented composites, porous structures and devices.
