Abstract
Recently, the X-ray structures of several building blocks of viral and bacteriophage fibre proteins have been solved. More information has also become available about their folding pathways. Current and future structural information, combined with elucidation of the folding mechanisms of fibrous proteins, may lead to more efficient design of materials based on viral fibre proteins.
