Abstract
This work describes powdered materials belonging to the Aurivillius oxide family (Bi2O2)(An−1BnO3n+1), for n = 2 and n = 3, and provides an approach for understanding the structural evolution with composition. Five kinds of solid solutions, Bi2−xPbxSr2Nb2TiO12−x/2, Bi2−yPbySr1−yLayNb2O9, Bi2−zPbzSrNb2−zMozO9, Bi2−uPbuSr2−uLauNb2TiO12, and Bi2−vPbvSr2Nb2+vTi1−vO12 were studied. The new material Bi2Sr2Nb2TiO12, as well as its structural evolution when Pb2+ is placed in Bi sites and the loss of charge is compensated by doping in A or B sites, is described. A study of ferro-piezoelectric behavior in Bi2Sr2Nb2TiO12 and Bi1.5Pb0.5Sr2Nb2TiO11.75 samples is discussed.
