Abstract
The variation of stress vs. cyclic number was measured during the early stage of fatigue at different strain amplitudes for two Al single crystals with different orientations at room temperature. The corresponding dislocation configuration was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Experimental results showed that the curves of stress with the cycle number and the dislocation configuration development during the fatigue are different for the two orientations. These results are analyzed in the light of dislocation slip geometry.
