Thin polysilylene films. Their electronic and photoelectrical properties

Thin polysilylene films, their preparation, electronic and photoelectrical properties and chemical synthesis are discussed. Electronic properties are influenced by electron delocalization along the silicon backbone. Attached π-conjugated chromophores improve the photostability of the silicon main chain. Optical excitations lead to the formation of charge transfer states (ion-pairs), which under the influence of an external electric field can dissociate into free charge carriers.
